Sometimes questions that seem simple on the surface can be incredibly difficult to answer analytically – even for PhD statisticians. For these problems, analytical solutions may not exist, may be difficult to derive, or may depend on assumptions the analyst is unwilling to make. That’s the bad news. The good news: In many cases, answers can be found through simulation, and in JMP there are many ways you can perform simulations, both interface-driven and JSL-based. In this session, we’ll take a closer look at how easy it is to perform simulations using a few of JSL’s built-in functions, and use these ideas to make quick work of some fun questions that would be really tough to answer otherwise.
