Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Greetings, Robin;

Yes, I'd like to see Atlanta grow a strong, friendly JMP Users group that meets face-to-face on a regular basis.

Days that work best for me: Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri

Times of the day that work best for me: Tentatively, maybe a lunchtime (11:30 - 1:00), possibly right after work (5:30 - 7:00), or later in the evening (6:30 or 7:00 to 8:00 or 8:30)

Parts of Atlanta I'd meet in: North Atlanta, Buckhead, Decatur, Chamblee, Embry Hills, Tucker, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody (others possible)

JMP Topics I'd love to hear: Predictive models and comparing modeling methods; data visualization approaches, JMP scripting for efficiency, JMP as an interface to R, databases, and other SAS products, survival analysis, process improvement monitoring using JMP and Six Sigma, and much more

Willing to speak or host the group?: Yes, I'd be willing to speak. Also, I'd need to check with our director, but if I get a "Yes" I'd be willing to host at our company's location near I-85 and Clairmont Road.

Willing to help lead the group?  Yes, willing to HELP lead the group. I cannot do it all on my own.

We have a richness of JMP users in the Atlanta area, and I think we could support a user community that would benefit everyone from the curious, to beginners, to experienced and expert practitioners. I use JMP regularly for analytics and evaluation activities, but would encourage seeing a blended group of business professionals, analytic specialists, content experts, academics, industry users, scientists, and others join together for learning together and sharing. If others are willing to contribute a bit of their energy to help grow this community, let's make this happen.

I see that this is a pretty old thread, but have there been any meetings? I would love to get plugged in.

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Have not heard from anyone since the JMP local user group meeting, in February this year. At that time, I was told the next local user group meeting was tentatively scheduled for April this year, by one the organizers.

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Hello,

I appreciate your interest! Yes, the thread is dated.

The Atlanta JMP User Group had a great interest meeting February 8, 2017 at the SAS Institute / Training Center in Buckhead. Special guests included Ghazal Falahi, Data Scientist and JMP Systems Engr., and David Delgross, JMP Advance Analytics and Data Visualization professional. A small core group of interested participants emerged; however, we have had to defer activities due to a number of business responsibilities affecting our volunteer organization.

A stream of interested parties have contacted me regarding the User Group, so this may be another opportunity to dial it up.

What is your professional interest?

What is your preference?

  • Would you be interested in actively contributing to growing the ATL JMP User Group?, or
  • More interested in participation, once there are planned events?

Best, Kevin

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Sounds like a cool meeting. I'm the only JMP user at my site, so I've worked with both Ghazal and David as I try to learn the ropes and get up to speed.

I'm new to JMP. I got interested in the tool as I was looking for a way to connect a datasource to a dashboard. I've taken an intro to JSL class, and see a lot of applications for sharing living visualizations with stakeholders. That said, there's a lot that I don't know, so it's hard to say exactly where I'll get the most value out of the software in the future. On a personal level, I'd appreciate meeting other JMP users so that I can increase the speed at which I'm learning; sometimes I feel like my lack of familiarity with the software is really handicapping my ability to understand what might be most useful to learn next.

If there are other committed users who are willing to try and resurrect the group, I'd be happy to help the effort.

Hello,

A small core group of interested participants emerged from our meeting earlier in the year. However, we have had to defer activities due to a number of business responsibilities affecting our volunteer organization.

What is your professional interest?

What is your preference?

  • Would you be interested in actively contributing to growing the ATL JMP User Group?, or
  • More interested in participation, once there are planned events?

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Hello All Atlanta JMP Users -

I am new to the Atlanta area, as of December 2016. Our old area had just recently started a Users' Group that met quarterly. I've been continuing to travel up to those to attend and/or present, but am hoping to meet with others in this area as well to learn and share ideas.

My husband and I both use JMP in our careers, so I'm sure that you can imagine that we are a household that overanalyzes everything. I am primarily a stay-at-home mom, so I'm definitely not the person to help set the schedule. I will abstain from answering those questions below and just try to find childcare whenever everyone decides to meet.

Looking forward to meeting everyone,

Alicia Thompson

As far as the questions asked on this thread:

  • What day(s) of the week do you prefer to meet?
  • What time(s) of day work best for you?
  • What part(s) of the Atlanta work best for you as a meeting location? NW Atlanta area
  • What JMP topics would you love to hear/learn more about at an upcoming meeting? Open to anything, always enjoy seeing people's real-life examples of how they have used JMP in their daily careers, even if it is using sample data to show the platforms relevant to their everyday uses of JMP.
  • Would you be willing to speak at a meeting or host the group for a meeting? Yes, willing to speak. I cannot host as I do not work here.
  • Would you be willing to help lead the group? If needed, although my time is unpredictable, due to being a stay-at-home mom.

Answers to the additional questions asked:

What is your professional interest? I work part-time, from home, as a Data Quality Analyst for Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, SC. My degrees are in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. My interests in JMP are primarly data analysis and DOE.

What is your preference?

  • Would you be interested in actively contributing to growing the ATL JMP User Group?, or
  • More interested in participation, once there are planned events? As stated above, I can actively contribute, if needed, although my time is unpredictable, due to being a stay-at-home mom.

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

I attended the meeting in February 2017, and look forward to a follow-up meeting. As a JMP Pro 13 user, I use it frequently.  Greatest areas of interest include the Analysis Platform , Predictive Modeling, & Text Analysis. Predominantly, my work is statistical analysis in the healthcare fields.

Best time to meet as a group is 6:00 - 9:00 PM.

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Hello Bob,

Hope you are doing well and thanks for expressing your continued interest. I will reach out after my call with JMP Division next week on next steps, status and planning a conference call.

Best Regards,

Kevin

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

I also was at the meeting in February this year. It was a good session to discuss re-launching the Atlanta JMP User Group. It is great to see increasing interest from members to participate in re-starting this group.

Re: New meeting of the Atlanta JMP User Group being planned now...

Yes. Great news to move us forward!

We have a new JMP Expert and Systems Engineer, Olivia Lippincott and a new Business Development contact Nick Salvatore. Both strong advocates for JMP and the ATL JMP User Group formation. We will work with Robin Moran, Senior Marketing Specialist, on two end of year items.

1. We are working on the details of an Atlanta Meet & Greet informal (face-to-face) event to foster building the community. A great opportunity to talk and learn what would benefit interested ATL JMP Users.

2. The next step would be to plan a virtual (online) JMP User Meeting (Nov timeframe)!

How does that sound?

Best, Kevin
