Lawrence Nitz finished a BA in political science at the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in political science at Michigan State University. He has done post-doctoral work in the Department of Economics, University of California, Berkeley; he has also held visiting positions at the Institute of Mathematical Economics at the University of Bielefeld, the faculty of Socialist Business Economics at the Technical University of Leipzig, and more recently, the German Institute for Economic Research.
