Chris Theis joined Coherent Corp. in 2019 following its merger with Finisar. At Finisar, he most recently served as Vice President of Quality, a role he held beginning in 2017. With more than 20 years of experience in the optoelectronics industry, he has held a variety of leadership positions focused on quality and reliability.

Theis began his career as a reliability engineer in the microelectronics division of Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories, where he contributed to the development of some of the first non-hermetic active optical devices.

In 2005, Theis joined Optium Corp. as Quality and Reliability Manager for its rapidly growing 300-pin transponder business. Following Optium’s acquisition by Finisar Corp. in 2008, he was named Director of Quality and Reliability for all of Finisar’s telecommunications products and was later appointed Vice President of Quality.

He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and earned both a master’s and a doctorate in materials science and engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
