Advanced Use Cases of the Bootstrap Feature in JMP® Pro
Michael Crotty, PhD, Research Statistician, JMP
We begin with a general introduction to the bootstrap feature introduced in JMP Pro Version 10, which is a useful interactive UI feature that could be used in introductory statistics classes to teach about sampling distributions. After the introduction to bootstrapping, we progress to advanced uses of the bootstrap that are accessible via JMP Scripting Language. These uses include three examples: using the bootstrap for functions of values in the JMP platform output, scripting the bootstrap feature to simultaneously bootstrap statistics from more than one report table box and using the bootstrap to get an estimate of the variability of a curve fit in the new Nonlinear platform.
Note: the attached JMP Journal was updated in September 2021 so that the embedded scripts run correctly in current versions of JMP
