We’re in the midst of finalizing the next release of JMP Genomics -- JMP Genomics 5.1 -- expected in early fall 2011. We are building this version of the software on the new JMP 9.0.2 and soon-to-be-released SAS 9.3 platforms. This marks the first time that JMP Genomics will be releasing at the same time as its sister product, JMP Clinical. The whole life sciences team has been incredibly busy developing, testing and documenting the many features in these new releases. My first draft of the JMP Genomics release notes is already 12 pages long (single-spaced), and it’s not nearly done!




It’s been a great pleasure to work with many of our customers on fulfilling their requests for this new version. Just to name a few of the updates coming:


  • We will have new import tools for standard output formats generated from next-gen sequencing alignment pipelines

  • We will also have new normalization and analysis options for count data and a number of additional methods for rare variant association.

  • A new suite of tools for the identification of linkage groups, marker ordering and visualization of linkage maps for experimental crosses complements our existing QTL and Q-K association offerings for groups focused on improvement of agriculturally important species.

    • Speaking of fantastic customers, one of our longtime users, Mindy Zhang from Genzyme, was featured in a Drug Discovery and Development story on the challenges of deploying bioinformatics software in the drug discovery process. JMP Genomics was also mentioned in this article, which also highlighted software developed by JMP Genomics partner GenoLogics.
