What inspired this wish list request?
Currently, managing JMP licenses during renewal cycles is challenging due to the lack of clear visibility on active license utilization. There is no straightforward way to track which users actively use their licenses and when they last accessed the application. This results in inefficient license cleanup, potential overspending, and difficulty in reallocating unused licenses.
Additionally, the process to resend welcome emails is cumbersome. If a user needs to receive the invitation again, the only workaround is to remove and re-add them, which is time-consuming and error-prone.
Finally, user role management lacks flexibility. As a JMP admin, I cannot directly update a user's role to grant admin privileges; I must contact JMP support. This delay affects timely user management and operational efficiency.
What is the improvement you would like to see?
Active License Utilization Metric: A dashboard or metric on the JMP portal that displays each user’s license status—active/inactive—and shows the last time they used the application. This data will allow admins to identify inactive users and clean up licenses before renewal, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Resend Invitation Email Option: An option to resend the welcome or invitation email directly from the portal without needing to remove and re-add the user. This simple feature would streamline communication and onboarding.
User Role Management Flexibility: A feature allowing JMP admins to update user roles within the portal, including promoting users to admin status or adjusting permissions as needed, without requiring intervention from JMP support.
If possible, mock-ups or wireframes showing a simple UI with these features integrated into the existing portal would help visualize the improvement. For example, a user list with columns for ‘Last Active Date’ and buttons for ‘Resend Invitation’ and ‘Edit Roles’.
Why is this idea important?
Implementing these improvements would significantly enhance the ease of managing JMP licenses and users. It would:
Optimize license renewal costs by identifying unused licenses efficiently.
Reduce administrative overhead and delays related to user onboarding and role management.
Empower JMP admins with greater control and flexibility, improving operational agility.
Overall, these enhancements would save time, reduce friction, and improve the overall JMP user management experience—making it a must-have for organizations managing multiple licenses.
