Risk, Trade Space and Analytics in Acquisition - from a Military Operations Research Society (MORS) Workshop by the same name

  • This MS Word document was originally constructed to demonstrate how JMP produces many of the types of analyses identified by the "Tools" Working Group.  Graphics from reports generated by JMP were selected using the "Fat Plus Sign = Selection" tool and then copied (Ctrl-C or right-click Copy) to the clipboard.  In MS Word "Paste Special" was used choosing "Picture (Enhanced Metafile)" as the desired format.  This pastes the image as a vector graphic that can be resized with aspect ratio preserved and the appearance of the text remaining legible.  Explanatory text was added around the images.

7884_Pareto Frontier.jpgAt left is shown a 3-D Scatterplot of three properties, Speed, Weight and Height for a group of alternative cases – actually 111 football players. The “Pareto Frontier” consists of the 13 alternatives that are the fastest, heaviest or tallest, and are shown as circles.  The remaining 98 alternatives not on the Pareto Frontier are shown as squares.

Countering Transnational Threats - from a Military Operations Research Society (MORS) Workshop by the same name

  • This MS Word document was originally constructed to demonstrate how JMP could produce a similar analysis (for different nations) as one demonstrated in a Working Group.  Cluster analysis is featured as data from the World Bank for 213 nations is first analyzed for the period 1996-2002.  Two nations from the most stable cluster (US and Switzerland) and two nations from the least stable cluster (Sierra Leone and Somalia) are then compared graphically from 1996 through 2010 on six World Governance Indicators.

Below is a sample of a cluster analysis. The analysis was performed for the 213 countries in the Worldwide Governance Indicators, 2011 Update data set.  The data set spanning 1996-2010 can be downloaded using the following link:  www.govindicators.org.  These are the six aggregate indicators of broad dimensions of governance:

    1. Voice and Accountability (VA)
    2. Political Stability (PS) and Absence of Violence/Terrorism
    3. Government Effectiveness (GE)
    4. Regulatory Quality (RQ)
    5. Rule of Law (RL)
    6. Control of Corruption (CC)
