Juarez Pezzuti has a degree in biology and a Ph.D. in ecology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). A full professor at Federal University of Pará, Pezzuti's research focuses on wildlife ecology, ethnoecology, and the application of local ecological knowledge (LEK) on wildlife ecological studies and community-based wildlife management.
