Graham Blatz is a resident statistician of First Solar’s R&D department, acting as a subject matter expert on DOE, modeling, image analysis, functional data, and general statistical guidance. He enjoys building tools for engineers to analyze their data in novel ways via JMP scripting. When asked what his team does, he got annoyed that their mission statement was too long and shortened it to something he works towards every day: “We remove barriers to analysis,” believing in the analytical potential of all of his colleagues. Blatz holds a Master’s in Applied Statistics from Bowling Green State University, keeps up with his piano playing because it makes his mom proud, and has a couple cats who don’t care in the slightest that he’s not home right now.
