Here is a quick example of how to pull data from Microsoft Excel into JMP and then update the data. To do this, you can drag and drop the Excel file you want into any JMP window, and the Excel Wizard will appear. Next, choose the desired worksheet and the individual worksheet settings to tell JMP the row that the column headers start on, the row that the data starts on, etc.
If the results shown in the Data Preview window are acceptable, click Import and examine the resulting JMP data table. Note that two scripts appear automatically in the table panel at the upper left of the data table. These are labeled "Source" and "Update Table." From the data table, you can create a graph or analysis and save a script for recreating it to the data table.
If the data in the original file changes (maybe you get new data next week), simply click the "Update Table" script and the new data will be imported into JMP. Now, any script for a graph or analysis will incorporate the latest data.
Updating and re-creating analyses can be done easily by the click of a button!
