Undercover Economist Tim Harford to keynote at Discovery Summit Europe

We are all called to solve challenges in a profoundly complex world.

Tim Harford, author of AdaptTim Harford, author of Adapt

It can be messy, and we’re bound to fail sometimes. Tim Harford, author of The Undercover Economist, says that’s OK. In fact, our instinct to avoid frustration may be wrong.

So how do we learn the art of adapting?

In his keynote talk at Discovery Summit Europe, 12-14 March 2019 in Copenhagen, Harford will outline four key obstacles to adapting – and how to overcome them. He’ll draw on stories from psychology and behavioral economics, as well as aviation, TV game shows and ballet (my favorite pastime!).

Some key takeaways from Tim Harford’s speeches and publications:

  • Add randomness early in the process.
  • Try stupid things that shouldn’t work.
  • Do something the hard way.
  • Disrupt the creative process.
  • Get uncomfortable.

Harford is an economist, journalist and broadcaster. He is author of Adapt, Messy and The Undercover Economist. He is a senior columnist at the Financial Times and the presenter of Radio 4’s More or Less. Harford has spoken at TED, PopTech and the Sydney Opera House. Take this opportunity to hear from Harford directly by joining us at Discovery Summit Europe in Copenhagen.
