An article in DM Review magazine, titled "Beyond the Bar Chart," explains how data visualization helps businesses.
"Strong visualization should simplify insights. It should get you to notice, focus, investigate and act. And it should give your organization a competitive advantage by allowing you to act faster," writes Tammi Kay George, Business Intelligence Product Marketing Manager for SAS, in the article.
George says business visualization should include such features as high-resolution dashboards (to incorporate high-impact predictive insights and analytics) and data movement (to show trends over time). The article includes a 3-D PCA plot created in JMP.
