Ramírez Book On Analyzing Data Using JMP Wins International Award

José and Brenda Ramírez are not only SAS and JMP experts, great teachers and smart, funny people. They’re also international technical publications winners.

Their book, Analyzing and Interpreting Continuous Data Using JMP: A Step-by-Step Guide, won the International Technical Publications Competition (ITPC) Award of Excellence. The awarding organization is the Society for Technical Communications.

Three-judge panels evaluated each entry’s production, design and typography, copy editing, content, organization and graphics. In addition, winning publications met the stated purpose for the intended audience - in this case, engineers and scientists who need to use statistics to make sense of data and make sound decisions based on their analyses.

The Ramírez team uses case studies to show how to solve common problems faced by engineers and scientists. They set up each problem, explain how data was collected, show analysis using JMP, interpret the output, draw conclusions and make recommendations. The authors demystify concepts like p-values, confidence level, tests of significance, and the difference between the null (H0) and alternative hypothesis (H1).
