The Society for Technical Communication has honored the JMP book Discovering JMP as both “Distinguished” and “Best in Show” in its 2010-2011 competition in the category of User Guides.
Discovering JMP was written to assist new JMP users in becoming quickly productive. The book introduces the most common JMP concepts, such as the use of the red triangle menu, and has an index of graphics that users can produce in JMP. Discovering JMP was released with JMP 9 in October 2010, and users can access it from within JMP 9 using the Help menu under Books.
As a judge for the Society for Technical Communication put it: “Discovering JMP is a very readable book and has been impeccably edited. The content in other hands could have been intimidating. The style is friendly without being either frivolous or condescending. The book should not intimidate a user unfamiliar with statistics and creating elaborate graphs.”
The guide was translated and released in five languages for Version 9.0 in October -- so users in Italy, France, Germany, China and Japan now have a reference in their own languages to help them get started with JMP. Congratulations to the JMP Documentation team!
