How to Upload to Academic Community

Click the orange “Upload Content” button. A new document window opens for creating the description for your file and uploading it.

As an example, here is how to describe and upload a data file.


  1. Make the document title descriptive.
  2. Attach the document or file. (Please let us know if your file size exceeds the upload limit)

  3. Create a description. You can format text and include images. Be sure to explain the story behind your file and your use case.
  4. Click the camera icon to add one or more images to show examples of file use.
    (To create images to use in this file description, save them from within JMP or make them via screen capture.)

  5. IMPORTANT: For your upload accept the default Place if shown as "JMP Academic Community", otherwise change the place to "JMP Academic Community" before publishing:

  6. IMPORTANT: Type one or more tags to help other users find your file. Complete a tag with a comma or the enter key. You can create multi-word tags with a space between the words.

  7. Select all categories for your file that apply. You may choose multiple categories.

  8. Accept the default Advanced option.

  9. Click the blue Publish button to submit your file and its description to the Academic Community for approval.

  10. Your file will not appear in the Academic Community until a community manager approves it, usually within one business day.
