drill down in a graph hierarchy

I am new with JMP but a Long term SAS experience.

My question is: can we create drill-down Graphs  to get a down in a hierarchical pathway to open new Graphs specific for the selected unit?

Thanks a  lot Dominik

Re: drill down in a graph hierarchy

Perhaps a local data filter would help here.  With the graph open click on the little red triangle and select Script > Local Data Filter.  Add the variable you want to drill down on and then select one or more values.  The graph will dynamically update to reflect the chosen filters.

Re: drill down in a graph hierarchy

Dear all,

I know this already, but this is not the same feature as with SAS ODS Html links.

I am evaluating of choosing SAS Visual Analytics or JMP for a custom specific reporting system.

With kind regards, meilleures salutations, freundliche Grüsse

Re: drill down in a graph hierarchy

Hi @numerics

In JMP 15.0 we introduced a feature called graphlets, which supports the ability to drill-down as you described.

This ability is part of the pre-defined Graphlet templates we call Presets. These are used to define a new visualization to be displayed inside a hover label as a thumbnail. When you click on the thumbnail it opens the visualization with an automatically created local data filter, thus "drilling down" to the corresponding new level.

You can let JMP choose the next drilling dimension based on column order or you can specify it using a new column named "Next in Hierarchy".

Or you can use JSL to define your own logic, say picking a column from an array based on the depth of your current drill sequence.

You can find more details at https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/15.0/index.shtml#page/jmp/create-drill-down-graphs.shtml#ww61136...

Presets always use the same visualization type (a bar chart drills into another bar chart, and so on). But you can control both the drilling order (the hierarchy) and the visualization type (for example, a bar chart drilling into a pie chart, or even a Tabulate Platform) by using stacked Paste Graphlets. You can find more details on this command at https://www.jmp.com/support/help/en/15.0/index.shtml#page/jmp/add-graphs-or-images-to-hover-labels.s...

This is a brand new feature and we are interested in your feedback.

Please take a look and feel free to add any suggestions to the JMP Wish List.
