creating figures for publication

I want to create my figures for publication in an Elsevier journal which requests that my file format be .tiff and have 1000dpi.
I can't seem to find a way to export my figure as a tiff or to change the dpi.
Is this possible?
Suggestions or workarounds?

Re: creating figures for publication

Do you have Adobe Illustrator or a similar vector art package? If so, you can paste the JMP graphs into Illustrator, do any final editing/move text/change colors/etc. and then export as a TIFF with the proper DPI settings.

I've never used it, but Inkscape looks like a decent free alternative to Illustrator.

Re: creating figures for publication

If you have a Macintosh, a cheaper solution than Adobe is GraphicConverter. I used it to convert the copied scatterchart to a 1000x1000 TIFF. The size is immense though: TIFF is 58.9MB, PNG is 116kb, and the PICT is 184kb. But if you must use TIFF, you must. Remember that your quality is limited by the initial copy from JMP.
