binning like spotfire CAN

I'm a huge fan of JMP, but spotfire seems to have one huge advantage.

Is it possible for JMP to automatically "bin" a continuous data column into groups (or what i call buckets) and make another column that is categorical to represent that. For example. Take this dataset:

ColA
1
3
32
22
40
9
8

"binning" would make Column B into Bins of 10, for example

ColB
"1-10"
"1-10"
"31-40"
"21-30"
"31-40"
"1-10"
"1-10"

This way, a boxplot and statistics could be calculated for each "bucket" or "bin". Obiovusly that this can be done with a formula, but spotfire has an automatic feature for this.

thanks!

There are a couple of options here.

1) In the Distribution platform you can use the hand tool on the histogram to adjust the binning as you want it and then go to the red triangle menu and choose "Save-> Level Numbers" or "Save->Level Midpoints".

2) If you want custom bins, you can download the Interactive Binning add-i from the File Exchange.
