Why are formulas not evaluated when opening a .jrp file but are evaluated when opening a .jmp file?

JMP suppresses evaluation of formulas by default when doing a table subset.  I often make and save graphs from the subset.  When I open the graph .jrp file, all the formula columns (and the graph) are empty.  Why is that?  If I save the subset as a .jmp file and open it, the formula columns are populated.  I have to turn off suppress eval for all related formula columns in order to view the graph I just saved (Rerun Formulas has no effect).
