Hello everyone,

I was trying to build a model with a random effect which is an ordinal variable.

However I got the following alert:

Does it mean that it is impossible to choose an ordinal variable for a random effect or is my variable an exception?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Solution

No, it does not take an ordinal variable as an random effect; it only accepts a nominal variable as a random effect. (The Random Effects tab in **Mixed Model** personality is used to specify a variance component model or random coefficients model, while **Attributes> Random Effect **available in

Hello jiancao,

Sorry for the delay and thank you for your answer.

So I am gonna transform my variable before use it as a random effect.

Thanks again.
