Is there a way to prevent JMP from opening up a new table everytime I do an SQL update and there is new columns? I have a stored procedure that refreshes the table, but causes it to create a new file every time there is a new column. Can I merge them by default in the same table?
JMP 12 will not create a new table IF the new columns are all at the rightmost part of the table, AND all the additional columns are formula columns. For versions prior to JMP 11, there is really nothing you can do that doesn't require scripting.
Thanks for the information. Is there a way to do this through scripting? and if so would you have an example of the coding to do it?
I don't have an example. A scripting solution would look something like reopening the table without it being visible, and then manually replacing all of the values in the original table with the values from the invisible table. Not a great solution.
