JSL Newb Question #3: How to refer to specific columns using ":column1" input?

Hi JMP Community,

It's me again. This time, I have reached another roadblack in my attempt to build a simple column renaming script:

Specifically, I'm now able to extract list of columns using the Column Dialog window. This yields a list that looks like this:

srcx = {:Column 1, :Column 2 01, :Column 2 02, :Column 2 03};

Where srcx is a list variable containing the source columns I'd like to use. You'll notice that the columns name are preceded by a colon, as expected. However, when I try to use these column names, I cannot figure out how to use them in the expression srcx [1]  << Set Name ("Example");

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers,

TS

Here is the approach I would take

column(srcx[1])<< set name ("Example")
