JPG images in 3D View Box?

Is there any way in JSL to take a .jpg file and transform it in a 3D viewspace, using openGL? For example, I would like to take the Simple Earth .jpg images and wrap them around a globe, or show a cubical sky box. So far, I haven't found a method.

no, or yes, depending on your tolerance...see 3D Effects, Satellites, GPS for a pretty good way to do it with the tools available. @Paul_Nelson

The technique is to use the colors of the image pixels as the corner colors of small rectangles. It makes a huge number of rectangles, and may be too large to rotate well.

Re: JPG images in 3D View Box?

Thanks. The whole idea of a "sky box" is that the image is at an infinite distance, so rotations and translations should be at a minimum. This might work.
