JMP 9 Open https or Run Program Capability?

Here a question for all you JSL experts out there is history :)

We have an Add-In that is commonly used by Many JMP9 users, as well as many JMP14 Users...
We have MANY JMP9 Users that have no real need to upgrade to JMP14/15, thus saving the company a fair amount of $$$$...

The Addin opens a cgi-bin URL and reads the TEXT Output into a data Table....

This worked great for many years, until recently that web server was forced to make all traffic https traffic....

JMP14 is still happy, but JMP9.... NOT....

Best I can tell, JMP9 doesnt suport HTTPS traffic in the Open() command ....

I manually tried to do an Internet Open without output as Text and it spit out an error message that only URLS beginning with http were supported.

I have a few options...

  1. Sockets??? need to do a bunch of work I guess to get encrypted traffic to port 443....
  2. External Program? - Run Program doesnt seem to be availible in JMP9? (What are other options before Run Program existed!?) - With Run Program or something similar, I coudl just call Curl in WIn10 and send output to a file, then read that file into JMP...
  3. Possibly using Load DLL to call an external program since Run Program doesnt exist in JMP9?

Any examples of old solutions that were employed in JMP9 Days for capturing external program output woudl be greatly appriciated....

Thanx'

At the risk of sounding like a troll, I think the best option would be to move to a more current version of JMP.

While JMP9 was a great software package in ~2010, JMP has made many leaps in capability since then.  Because of the technology change with your server, this sounds like the business case you need to make the change to JMP 15.

"We have MANY JMP9 Users that have no real need to upgrade to JMP14/15, thus saving the company a fair amount of $$$$..."

Hmm, as long as you have annual license an upgrade does not cost anything, so there would not be any additional $$$$ you do not pay already. May you contact your JMP Sales representative to guide you with that. This would be the easiest of your proposed options.

As MathStatChem has said, JMP 9 is about 9 years old, which is huge for software and also hardware and even protocols like http/s.

I'm sure it has to do with the # of Perpetual JMP9 Licenses (Seats) vs the Annual JMP14/15 License Seats we currently have.... Saving $$$ if there is no Neard for the majority of users to not need JMP14/15 (and 64bit JMP at that!)... so many users are just fine with JMP9 using our old Licenses.... but this breaks things... :(

One may need to point out to your management, that over time, unmaintained software rots. That is, things change, which over time make the unmaintained software go bad. So, overtime, your copies of JMP 9 will become less and less capable of interacting with newer pieces of functionality.
