IF/Else formula - how to return a blank cell

I am creating an conditional formula. If the condition I am evaluating is false, How do I return a blank cell?

If( :Orientation == "X", :"X Ave"n / 100, ??)

I want to evaluate a column and if it is "X" then I want to perform an equation. If it is any other value I want to return a blank cell.

What do use in the "else" part of the formula to return a blank cell?

Re: IF/Else formula - how to return a blank cell

Hi,

If your column type is numeric, you can use the following syntax because the solution provided is geared toward a character type column:

if(:Orientation == "X", :"X ave"n / 100, .)

The empty value is represented by a single period.

Re: IF/Else formula - how to return a blank cell

Since it's a character column, use "".

If( :Orientation == "X", :"X Ave"n / 100, "")

Re: IF/Else formula - how to return a blank cell

Thank You @Thierry_S . The resulting column is numeric therefore " " does not work. Adding the single period worked perfectly.
