How to make the caption window not appear on top of other windows?

Hi everyone,

I have set up a JMP script to run some routine data crunching tasks in the background at work, and to let myself know the progress of my script I use the caption() function to display a caption window showing the % progress of the script as it runs.

The caption window is a very handy feature, but there's a slight inconvenience that it will always display on top of all the other current windows -- even over a powerpoint presentation in presentation mode. So it is a little awkward that while I'm making a presentation, everyone can see the % progress of my script as well at the same time.

Does anyone know if there's a way to make the caption window not appear on top of other windows, so that it won't show up while I'm doing something else like making a presentation?

Re: How to make the caption window not appear on top of other windows?

in JSL we can <<Move window to front, but not back, so that won't help.

Maybe it would be possible to move the window to the far corner of the screen?

That way you know its there, but its not completely visible.

Names Default To Here( 1 );

//This message applies to all display box objects

w = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/Big Class.jmp" );

Wait( 2 );

w << Move Window( 500, 500 );

Perhaps another approach would succeed farther. You could create a new custom window to present the progress and avoid the undesirable behavior of the caption.

Learn it once, use it forever!

..and then move it off to the far corner of the screen
