Date read in problem from csv file (text)

Hi everyone,

I have been given some data which needs some cleaning first. The issue I ham having is that the data time column supplied by the customer reads in as a character and any attempt to format this as Time results in JMP giving a null.

The date appear as "12/7/2011 6:57:20 AM" is there a way of making this into time format. Without hacking it via a script

Many thanks.

Below is a sample of my data:

"   ","PARAMID","PARAMVALUE","INDEXID","REPORTDATETIME"

"1","419","0.998956043956044","5","12/7/2011 6:57:20 AM"

"2","419","0.998956043956044","9","12/7/2011 6:57:20 AM"

"3","419","0.998956043956044","10","12/7/2011 6:57:20 AM"

"4","419","0.998956043956044","12","12/7/2011 6:57:20 AM"

"5","419","0.998956043956044","14","12/7/2011 6:57:20 AM"

Re: Date read in problem from csv file (text)

There was a defect in JMP in reading date time format when the OS time format had a certain setting. I can confirm that as in JMP 13 and later, this issue has been resolved and the example data given can be imported without the need of a workaround.

This table was made by importing your CSV, then appending some duplicate 'PM' rows. The formula column converts the character date time to a JMP date time. There may be 'better' ways to do this, but a quick answer is usually good.
