Automatic Grouping of Ordinal Values

I have 9 columns containing ordinal values and 2 with catagorical values and I know that some of the rows are repeated measurements( therefore all columns have the same value). I want to automatically group these columns together and create a new column called group ( or similar).

This can be done manually with a small data set or ~100 samples but I have ~1000 rows to sort through, is there an easy way to do this?

I have JMP9 and JMP10EA

Hi d_barnett,

You could use a tabulation to get counts of the various groups, but to assign a group name to a new group column is trickier - it will probably require some JSL.

It would be helpful to see some sample data.

You can use Tables > Summary and put all the columns into the Group role. That will result in a different row for each unique combination.
