    <description>&lt;P&gt;Is there any way to choose EMS as default in Variability Chart analysis settings?       <description>&lt;P&gt;I'm sorry but I don't know any way to force the Variability Chart to use only EMS. If the data are balanced and no variance components are negative then you will get EMS. If your legacy system is reporting a 0 or negative variance component then it is not a reliable analysis.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;FONT color="#FF0000"&gt;Unfortunately, my 'solution' above isn't, and may actually be misleading.&lt;/FONT&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Although&amp;nbsp;'Analysis&amp;nbsp;Type("Use REML analysis")' is a valid option within 'Variability Chart()', a thread with JMP R&amp;amp;D confirmed that 'Analysis&amp;nbsp;Type(&amp;nbsp;"Use EMS analysis")' is not a valid option, and is just silently ignored by JMP.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;In this example, for the balanced data JMP picks EMS, but that's not because of the JSL.&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Perhaps not what you want, but if you are only interested in the numerics you can always use 'Fit Model' and force it to always use EMS:&lt;/P&gt;
