Creating plots with error bars with "Fit Yby X", "Graph Builder" or other options

Hi,

How do I create plots with error bars based on "Fit y by x", Graph builder, other?

The question may refer to two ways to achieve the plots:

1. The error bars can be derived from explicitly from the data by creating columns of means, upper/lower errors, from which the plots are created, for e.g. time dependent data.

2. From the raw data by grouping several variables (columns) from which the means and STD/SDE are calculated (per row) and subsequently are used to create the Y by X plot ()means with the error bars (STD/SDE).

I have seen some examples using the Graph Builder using Bar format as intermediate stage, however, it seem not to work for me.

What do you mean by "it seem not to work for me" so what have you already tried? Bar chart for example has many different options you can use

The error bar or interval estimate is usually an option in a red triangle (context) menu. Click the red triangle to the left of the fit under the scatter plot in Bivariate (Fit Y by X). You can select dotted lines or regions for the confidence or prediction interval.

I was referring for instance to the following sources:

I have added three column to JMP's sample data Big Class (0.25, 0.75 quantile and mean)

By using Interval bar chart I can get plot like this (I left the points there for visualization purposes)

How/where do I implement what you mentioned "You can select dotted lines or regions for the confidence or prediction interval" for the above bivariant figure?

To make it clear what I aim at looks like the following (created in Excel):

For sync, each exponentially decreasing line represents the mean for each of four groups (Legend) as a function of time (x-axis), and their corresponding Stds/ as the vertical lines. Simple... easily implemented via python's matplotlib package or alike, MATLAB, excel...

How to create such a figure from Fit Y by X, Graph Builder?

You could stack your data, rename columns, create category column. Then you can use Mean as Y, Std as Interval and the category column as Overlay

You can also do it from your data table but I think you will have to add multiple plots into your graph and disable variables correctly

Here is a script for that option, so you can maybe a bit easier get an idea how variables could be disabled

It's clear how to do this in Graph Builder. But any ways to accomplish the same in Fit Y by X? I'm kinda stuck with this platform for now. And with version 17.2
