topic Date formula not working in Discussions

What could cause the Date function to not fill the column. I have three tables, one of which the Date Time : Date (MDY) worked just fine. In the other two tables however, after selecting the proper table columns (MONTH, DAY, YEAR), no date data filled the column. This seems so simple that I am rather perplexed. Ideas?

Never mind... one of the columns was coded as "character", not "numeric". Duh!
