Dear JMP community,

I cannot figure out how to switch to light mode in macOS. There is an discussion thread for Windows but it's not applicable to macOS: https://community.jmp.com/t5/Discussions/JMP19-Stuck-in-Dark-Mode/td-p/905568.

The only place I could find "light" has been checked. I tried to edit the colors but it messes up everything. The font color stays in white in the graph and data table in white background.

@BiasedIbex92833 - is your Mac in dark mode? Check on your mac's settings in the appearance area and see if that is set to Dark. JMP inherits the display mode from the OS on Mac. The light theme you've selected is for HTML 5 outputs.

Thank you for the reply! Yes, changing my macOS into light theme will fix the issue. However, it will be nice if there is a permanent setting for macOS so I don't need to switch the theme every time I use JMP.

I am generating publication quality figures and I would like the format to comply the journal's style. The style of the converted pdf is not the same at all as what I have seen in the graph builder. The graph builder is in dark theme and the pdf output is in light theme. There is specific background color I want to remove but fail.

I am following this video's instruction: https://www.jmp.com/en/learning-library/topics/using-jmp/saving-publication-quality-graphics-with-jmp.

Basically copy the graph, paste it into the preview app in macOS, and then export into pdf.

I was doing some prep for an IEEE submission earlier this year. I had better luck with going to File > Export. Then selecting image and setting the format to PDF. Depending on the publication, you can also go with EPS or SVG. Any of those three can be fine-tuned in vector editors like Illustrator or Affinity Designer.

I just tested it and the results are pretty similar to the preview method. The background and text color changed completely. That should be from the auto switching from dark to light during the export. I guess there is just no easier way to deal with this.
