topic Space Filling Design with Constraints - Not Working in Discussions

I am attempting to use the Space Filling Design with constraints.

The constraint I am using in the dialog is

('Power (W)'/'Top N2 flow')>70

I use fast flexible Filling Design and select 60 runs.

In reviewing the runs 12 of the 60 violate the disallowed Combinations Expression. Note no error is raised

If I change the factor names to 'Power' instead of 'Power (W)') and 'N2' instead of 'Top N2 flow' no points violate the disallowed Combination expression. This approach causes me to add additional steps in the workflow to go back and rename factors as originally desired.

How can I get the disallowed Combination Expression to accept the originally named factors? This shouldn't be rocket science?

Hi @Hegedus1

It's hard to help you without any table, scripts or more informations about how you have prepared your space filling design : factors names, types, ranges...
I would guess that the names of the factors do not match exactly the names of the factors mentioned in your constraint (or maybe the factors names have been changed after defining the constraint ?), hence the error you find, as JMP is not able to link the factors mentioned in your constraint to the ones in your design.

Can you provide more infos if the names mismatch is not the reason behind this error ?

Since your constraint is quite simple, you can also define it using Specify Linear Constraints with a little reworking on the expression : Power - 70*N2 > 0. This way, the constraint automatically have the right factor naming, so it can help avoid errors.

For more information about the definition of factor constraints, you can check @Jed_Campbell excellent article <LI-MESSAGE title="Demystifying Factor Constraints" uid="619898" url="https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Blog/Demystifying-Factor-Constraints/m-p/619898#U619898" discussion_style_icon_css="lia-mention-container-editor-message lia-img-icon-blog-thread lia-fa-icon lia-fa-blog lia-fa-thread lia-fa"></LI-MESSAGE>

Hope this answer will help you,
