Hi!

I use Chromatographic Data Systems like Empower and Chromeleon and I would like to export a table of component Amounts directly into JMP so I can perform statistics straight away instead of using Excel as an intermediary and copying from there? If anyone does this regularly I would like to know the process.

Hi @ExactOkapi626 ,

If you have a colleague (or yourself) are comfortable with Python, it is integrated in JMP which allows you to use open-source packages like Rainbow API with JMP to bring in the data files directly as a data table. I'm tagging my colleague @spyros_megalou as he has some experience with this and has helped me with importing Agilent file types.

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I think that using Python will not really help us. Since we are working in a GMP environment, when we have an intermediate step via another software, we have to validate the data transferred (as it happens currently with excel). Our objective is to skip this validation step while ensuring traceability.

Hi @ExactOkapi626 ,

The Python would run inside of the JMP software (as it is already integrated in v18), so would not run Python 'externally' - does that resolve the concerns/

If you are stuck in a validated environment, I'm afraid there aren't any options outside of bringing in scripting to be able to open Chromeleon file type. Two potential options could be:

a) If your data is stored on an ODBC compliant database, you can use JMP to request the data

b) You can assemble a workflow to automate the import and preparation of the excel data (this is a version of scripting, but you could validate that the workflow is behaving as expected during setup and then lock it off to perform that set task).

Thanks,

Ben

Hi @ExactOkapi626,

I agree with @Ben_BarrIngh on the fact that you can automate the process using the workflow builder if using excel as an in-between step is necessary. Especially if your data are stored on a server or Database then you can directly connect these sources with JMP and import your data.

Are the data saved in a really chrom-specific file Type? I have worked with Ben in the past to import Agilent files and have made an add-in, which takes advantage of the Rainbow Python Library and imports (e.g. .D files) straight to JMP. I would be happy to provide that if you think it passes the regulations of your GMP environment.

Best,
Spyros
