Do people ever use PLS on historical data for variable selection to find important variables as inputs for DOE?

I've seen several JMP webinars where they use Bootstrap forest to find the VIP variables, typically followed by Elastic net or Stepwise regression to further whittle down terms that might be important for future DOEs? I'm curious if anyone uses PLS regression in the process - maybe after Bootstrap forest, to further ID important or correlated variables before doing Elastic Net etc.., or does th...

How to determine if a data table is already opened?

This is how I used to do it before JMP 8: tableIsOpen = Function( {tname}, {dt, rv = 0}, Try( dt = Data Table( tname ); rv = 1; ); rv; );
This does not work in JMP verison 8 because DataTable function will open a file dialog if the table is not opened already. User can always press "cancel" but it's annoying.

Adding column property units to Table headings

Hello All, I have a JMP file with multiple columns for different analytical assays each with the column property units. When I use tabulate to create a table and selecting the columns I get the column name but not the units. I don't want to add the units into the column titles themselves as that will effect a lot of other scripts I have. I did try just changing the statistics label to the assay ...
